This EK model was the first 'Type R' Civic. Despite its light size and weight, it boasts a high-revving naturally-aspirated engine that can produce 182.4 BHP. Its body was extensively reworked with an eye towards enhanced rigidity and weight reduction. The base chassis was of a newer generation than that of the first Integra Type R model. Though small in stature, its speed is undeniable. This particular variant is a late-model release. The bumper and light detailing differ slightly from earlier designs.

This is a first-generation Honda Civic Type R. What's really special about this car is its specially-tuned 1.6L naturally-aspirated straight-four engine. Just wait till you hear its thrilling roar and exhaust note—you'll think you're driving a genuine racing car! The effect is really amazing, especially when you go from the 6,000 rpm to over 8,000 rpm. Since it was based on a front-wheel drive car, the Type R was originally marketed at an affordable price. But nowadays its value has been reassessed owing to its exceptional performance.

In-Game Description[]

Car Collection (GT7)[]

The first Type R model that dominated circuits around the world.

The Honda Civic is a long-selling model that first appeared in 1972. The mainstream model of the 6th generation EK Civic, appearing in 1995, also called the Miracle Civic, was given a high-fuel-economy, high-output 3-stage VTEC, and was also equipped with a CVT called the Honda Multimatic.

Two years later in August 1997, the Type R of this 6th generation Civic made its first appearance. Based on the 3-door hatchback model, the car attracted much attention as the first Type R Civic.

The engine of the Civic Type R was a B16B, 1.6 L inline-4-cylinder DOHC 16-valve engine, and equipped with VTEC it produced an amazing 182.4 BHP @ 8,200 rpm even though it was a normally aspirated engine. The body was lightened, as with the other Type R models, and was equipped with a harder, lower suspension, enlarged four-wheel disc brakes and ABS with a sports setting.

The lightweight, compact and high-performance Civic Type R was very active in racing, invoking one-make Civic races and actively competing in races like the Super Taikyu endurance series, while still captivating many amateur racers.

Used Cars (GT7)[]

This EK model was the first 'Type R' Civic. Despite its light size and weight, it boasts a high-revving naturally-aspirated engine that can produce 182.4 BHP. Its body was extensively reworked with an eye towards enhanced rigidity and weight reduction. The base chassis was of a newer generation than that of the first Integra Type R model. Though small in stature, its speed is undeniable. This particular variant is a late-model release. The bumper and light detailing differ slightly from earlier designs.
