In-game description[]
The fourth-generation Honda Integra Type-R appearing in 2001 was different from all previous Integra Type Rs. Until then, Integra Type-R models were based on a Civic/Integra platform that was further tuned by Honda. But in developing the new Integra, the Type-R was designed from the ground up.
Although the new Type-R retained the character of previous incarnations, namely a focus on ride comfort and civility, the new car was faster and more nimble than any Integra Type-R that came before it. The engine was a new-generation K20A, an i-VTEC-equipped 2.0-liter DOHC inline-4 that produced 217 HP and 151.8 ft-lb of torque. It displayed excellent throttle response, thanks in part to a new lightweight flywheel, which enhanced its throttle-steering abilities. The gearbox was a close-ratio 6-speed manual employing a newly-developed multi-cone synchromesh in all gears.
The suspension was changed from the four-wheel double-wishbone layout of the previous generation to struts up front and double-wishbones at rear. The car was also Honda's first to come equipped with Brembo brakes, reinforcing the fact that track performance was the car's primary focus.
The front-wheel-drive Integra Type R performed admirably through corners, with very limited understeer. The handling balance of the car was near-neutral and body roll was kept in check by the taut shock and springs. The model unfortunately ceased production in 2006, but its name is forever branded in Honda's automotive history.

Trivia[]
- In Gran Turismo Concept, it appeared as a pre-production model later reaching the production stage. The game's end credits shows some real footage of the car being tested at Suzuka Circuit.
- A version of the car badged as an Acura RSX can be found in the game files of Gran Turismo Concept 2002 Tokyo-Geneva, suggesting that there were plans for a North American release of GT Concept. The car uses the same "TYPE-R" stickers and badges from the original Integra Type R, which would have been called the "RSX Type-R", although Acura never produced and sold such a car (the closest equivalent is the RSX Type S A-Spec). However, the rear plate is still branded as "Integra".
- This variant also did not make the cut for GT4 either, however, an unused vehicle banner in the Japanese version of the game suggests that a major Acura lineup was planned in a Gran Turismo and Gran Turismo 2 style for the North American release of that game.
