Description[]
Honda won the 1983 World Grand Prix championship with the NS500. The NS250R liberally incorporates the original cutting-edge Honda technology in that famous bike.
This NS250R is built on a square-cross-section aluminium double-cradle frame—unusual for the time. Like the NS500's power unit, the newly designed, compact 90-degree-bank-angle V engine fitted to this frame features cylinder barrels coated with nickel silicon carbide and cast aluminum cylinders that are lighter and more resistant to wear and seizure.
Although fitted with the standard stock engine, this customised bike has intake and exhaust system tweaks that let the engine crank out bone-crunching top-end power. The air-assisted standard fork with TRAC anti-dive control was replaced with a stiffer racing fork with a wider range of settings. In the rear, the stock swing arm was replaced with an aluminum swing arm with subframe, and the link ratio of the ProLink suspension was optimised.
To handle the boosted high-r.p.m. power, 4-pot caliper brakes are installed in the front and, for greater control, floating brakes in the rear.
