Built with such state-of-the-art motorcycle technology as Honda's ProArm swing arm and four-pot calipers with pistons of different diameters, the 1993 NSR250R and 250RSE could put many a racing bike to shame. The map-controlled PGM4 fuel-injection system monitors engine speed, throttle opening, bike speed, and rate of acceleration or deceleration and automatically adjusts intake, ignition timing, and exhaust to achieve optimum combustion. The result is awesome but easy-to-control power.
A PGM memory card is used instead of a key. A racing card from Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) can be used to change control maps, so that engine power can be boosted to 70 hp just by making simple modifications, such as changing the expansion chambers. The card can also be used to store settings customised for a specific course, rider, or set of road conditions.
Unlike the standard model R, the SE has a cartridge-style fork with adjustable damping force, fully adjustable rear suspension with remote reservoir for the shock, and a dry multiple-disc clutch.
This particular racing-spec bike, with an HRC card and racing chambers, cranks out very respectable power. It also has the same magnesium rims found on SP-spec Hondas, and a redesigned cartridge-type fork with superior track ability.
