The Honda NSX Type R '92 is a road car produced by Honda. It appears in all mainline Gran Turismo games to date. Although not initially available in Gran Turismo Sport, this car was later introduced as part of Update 1.28, released on September 26, 2018.

The NSX proved to be a major hit with both automotive enthusiasts and media alike, but the limited-edition NSX Type-R that went on sale in Japan in November 1992 took Honda's mid-engine sports-car formula to the extreme limits. This ultimate sports car was so well-received that the "R" designation eventually made its way into the lineup of Honda's more mainstream cars, namely the Civic and Integra.
Honda's engineering philosophy for its Type-R vehicles followed two main principles: "less weight" and "increased rigidity". In the case of the NSX. this means removing the car's air conditioning unit and sound system hardware, not to mention all of its sound absorbing insulation. Other changes included installing lightweight seat and wheels. The result was a lean performance machine that tipped the scales at a low 1230 kg (the stock NSX weighed 1350 kg), improving the Type-R's power-to-weight ratio from the base car's 4,82 kg per PS to 4.39 kg per PS.
Complementing its new lean body was improved structural rigidity that came via additional bracing throughout its aluminum monocoque chassis. Stiffer shocks and springs on the suspension were also key contributors. Overall, the Type-R behaved like an entirely different animal when compared to the base NSX, especially on the race track where the car belonged. Less than 500 NSX Type-Rs were produced during the car's limited three-year run, with all of them now considered collectors items by many Honda fans.

GT1
This car can be purchased at the Honda Used Car Dealership for around 60,000-72,000 Credits. The car is not available in the NTSC-U version of the game.
GT2
This car can be purchased at the Honda Used Car Dealership for around 60,000-72,000 Credits. Like in GT1, this car is not available in the NTSC-U version of the game.
GT3
This car can be bought at the Honda dealership for 99,570 Credits. It has only two color options: Championship White and Indy Yellow Pearl. The third color option, Flint Black Metallic, is available as a prize for winning the Amateur Type R Meeting.
GT4
This car can be bought at the Early 90's Used Car Showroom for between 33,000 to 42,000 Credits. The price of this car may vary depending on the mileage.
GTPSP
This car can be purchased for 97,070 Credits.
GT5
This car is a Standard Car, and can occasionally be bought at the Used Car Dealership for around 79,000 Credits. The exact price of the car may vary depending on the mileage. It is a Level 7 car.
GT6
This car can be purchased for 97,070 Credits. It is a simplified car.
GT Sport
This car can be purchased in the Honda section of Brand Central for 97,000 Credits.
Trivia
- Despite appearing in all main series Gran Turismo games to date, this car didn't receive an updated model and interior view until it was added to Gran Turismo Sport. Other vehicles that share this trait are the Subaru IMPREZA Premium Sport Coupe 22B-STi Version '98 and Toyota SUPRA RZ '97.
- Until GT Sport, the color "Charlotte Green Pearl" was incorrectly translated to "Shallot Green Pearl".
- This occurs due to transliteration process from katakana: the color name is "シャーロットグリーンパール" in Japanese.
- The Mobil 1/PIAA livery (based on the Honda Mobil 1 NSX GT (JGTC) '99 and Honda Mobil 1 NSX '01), used in Real Circuit Tours GT League event, initially had incorrect mappings; this was later fixed in an update following the car's addition.
