Description[]

In 1982, at the dawn of the boom in popularity of 2-stroke race replicas, Honda released a machine built to be the ultimate in small 4-stroke sportbikes, the VT250F, the first in its class fitted with a water-cooled 4-stroke 90-degree engine. The VT250F rolled on all-aluminium Comstar rims (then used on Grand Prix machines) and in the front had inboard ventilate brakes with dual-piston calipers. With these and other high-tech features, such as a hydraulic clutch and transistor ignition, the bike became an instant bestseller.

For circuit-worthy performance, this VT250F has a high-performance carburettor, a high-efficiency muffler, and a high-lift cam. With displacement unchanged, it generates 38 bhp at 1,000 r.p.m.

Some inner parts in the standard front suspension were upgraded for damping properties better suited for the circuit, and the Pro-Link rear suspension was replaced with a higher-performance suspension unit.

The already light chassis was further lightened by removing various street-oriented safety components. This, plus greater engine power at high r.p.m., gave the bike unbelievable acceleration for a 4-stroke 250cc machine. The engine sound is crisp, unlike that of 1,000-cc V-twins. In short, this peppy, fun bike is bursting with originality.
