The Honda XR250 Motard '05 is a trail bike produced by Honda Motorcycles. It only appears in Tourist Trophy.

Colors[]

There are two colors available for this bike:

  • Black
  • Extreme Red

Description[]

Honda built the XR250 Motard by taking the XR250 classic 250-cc offroad bike and putting 17-Inch on-road wheels on the front and rear, lowering the bike's height from 34.5 inches to 33.5 inches. The main reason for the change in wheel size wasn't simply the height. The smaller rims also allowed the rake angle to be tightened from 26.3 to 25.15 degrees. This in turn, shortened trail length from 4.1 inches to 2.8 inches and thus struck an exquisite balance between speed and stability for on-road riding.

Like the XR250 with its single-shaft balancer, the Motard is also powered by a dry-sump, air-cooled, 4-stroke single-cylinder XR engine with a radial four-valve combustion chamber. Refined over many years of improvements, this engine has it all: low to mid-range torque and pleasant power characteristics, and powerful acceleration even at high r.p.m. The electric-start engine turns over with the touch of a button, but an optional kick starter is available. To match the smaller wheel diameter, the secondary gear reduction is slightly higher.

A rider's first impression upon straddling the Motard is the slim, light feel it inherited from its off-roading daddy. The smaller wheel size means the rider's feet are that much closer to the ground, for easier standing at a stop. The XR engine's ease of handling at low and medium r.p.m. makes road riding a breeze. The bike goes exactly where the rider tells it to. Because of the lower center of gravity, on-road tyres will enable the rider to monitor grip closely, for the kind of on-the-money cornering and braking that brings out a rider's confidence. The smaller wheels contribute to improved stability during full-braking stops.

With better stability, the rider can have fun negotiating winding roads at high speed. In short, the Motard lets the rider use the engine's power to its fullest—banking steeply and maintaining any racing line. In its unmodified state, this machine can also handle any type of road, from paved road to unpaved mountain path. The Motard is truly a multipurpose bike.
