Pre-race dialogue[]
| Race | Driver | Quote | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kyoto Driving Park - Yamagiwa + Miyabi | A. Carrazza | "Hi, I'm Adriano Carrazza from Brazil. The 918 Spyder that I'm driving is a successor to the GT Carrera that first went on sale in 2003. Its V8 engine is based on that of the RS Spyder which raced at Le Mans. It's also fitted with electric motors in the front and rear which make it capable of producing 867.8 BHP in total. Only a limited number of these 918s were ever produced." | This is one of the featured races for Porsche 918, added to the game alongside it. |
| A. Brooks | "I'm Andrew Brooks, from Canada. ‘Hypercar' is a relatively new term. It refers to cars that are even more powerful – and expensive – than supercars!" | ||
| C. Lopez | "I'm Coque López, from Spain. I'll be driving an Aston Martin Vulcan, specifically designed for this track. Aston Martin have produced many models who names begin with the letter ‘V.' This one, the Vulcan, is named for the Roman god of fire. The front-midship mounted engine packs over 788 BHP of power. Despite this, however, the carbon body means that the whole car only weights 1,360 kg." | ||
| Circuit de la Sarthe | G. Mangano | "This is Giorgio Mangano, from Italy. I'm really excited about the prospect of racing in a Bugatti Veyron! The engine is an 8L 16-cylinder turbo, with over 986.2 BHP of horsepower and a top speed of more than 400 km/h! There's a special key that has to be toggled if you want to try and go that fast, though!" | |
| T. Miyazono | "This is Takuma Miyazono, from Japan. The Ferrari Enzo I'll be driving was built[1] to celebrate the company's 55th birthday. It's a very special car – so special, it was named after the company's founder, Enzo Ferrari! The solid carbon body was created by the Japanese designer Ken Okuyama." | ||
| Trial Mountain Circuit | A. Tapai | "This is Hungary's Ádám Tápai. The Veneno I'll be driving is a very special car, built to celebrate Lamborghini's 50th anniversary. Lamborghini have produced a number of limited edition cars, but the Veneno is something else – only three were ever built! The car is based on the Aventador, but has a sharper, more muscular shape. I absolutely love it!" | |
| K. Kawakami | "This is Kanata Kawakami, from Japan. The Ford GT I'm driving is a revival of the GT40 that won Le Mans four times on the trot in the 1960s. 1,500 of these were built[1] to celebrate Ford's 100th anniversary. I think it's a real masterpiece of a revival design, personally. You may have noticed that this is the car that appeared on the package for Gran Turismo 4!" | ||
| Autodromo Nazionale Monza | B. Beauvois | "I'm Baptiste Beauvois, from France. The Bugatti Chiron I'm riding today has a very romantic story behind its name. It was named after Louis Chiron, a Monégasque racing driver who competed in the early 20th century. A Bugatti work racer, he won many tournaments, including the 1931 Monaco Grand Prix. When I hear the words ‘Bugatti Chiron,' I am reminded of the brand's long and storied history." | This is the featured race for the Chiron, added to the game alongside it. |
| I. Fraga | "I'm Igor Fraga, winner of the first Gran Turismo World Series! Opened in 1922, the Monza Circuit is a track with over 100 years of history. It is one of the most famous F1 Grand Prix tracks, and I hope to attempt it one day in a real F1 machine." | ||
| Autódromo de Interlagos | R. Kokubun | "I'm Ryota Kokubun, from Japan. Do you know the secret meaning behind the name of this, the Jaguar XJ220? The ‘220' refers to its top speed (approx. 354 km/h)! Pretty neat, don't you think?" | This is the featured race for the XJ220, added to the game alongside it. |
| K. Drumont | "I'm Kylian Drumont, from France. Jaguar is famous for winning Le Mans 24 Hours on numerous occasions. I hear that this XJ220 was modeled after the XJ13, a racing car from the 1960s. Well? Can you see the resemblance? I sure can!" | ||
| Circuit de Sainte-Croix - C | B. Beauvois | "I'm Baptiste Beauvois, from France. The Aston Martin Valkyrie I'm in today is equipped with a V12 that has a rev ceiling beyond 10,000rpm. And the aerodynamic elements on its body were penned by genius designer Adrian Newey. But did you know that the Valkyrie is actually a road-going car? It's truly one of a kind." | This is the featured race for the Valkyrie, added to the game alongside it. |
| Red Bull Ring | V. Gallo | "I'm Valerio Gallo, the 2021 champion from Italy. Today I'll be competing in a Maserati supercar – The MC20. Maserati competed in F1 events for a long time. They are legends of the sport. Speaking of legends, ever heard of Maria Teresa de Filippis? The first female F1 driver, she rode in a Maserati 250F!" | These are the featured races for the MC20, added to the game alongside it. |
| Dragon Trail - Gardens | K. Drumont | "Bonjour! I'm Kylian Drumont, from France. I hear we'll be getting a bit of rain in the last leg of this race. Since rear-wheelers tend to spin out at high speeds, I suggest going easy on the accelerator, okay?" |
Strategy[]
The Hypercar Parade is a deceptively difficult series. This is largely down to the massive disparity between the perform capabilities of each vehicles, with opponents such as the Aston Martin Vulcan and Valkyrie proving to be the toughest challenge. However, there is no limit on the Performance Point cap or required tires, enabling the player to tune any road car of their choosing to the maximum performance possible. As the name suggests, supercars and hypercars are strongly encouraged.
Alternatively and perhaps more simply, purchasing a top level Vision Gran Turismo road car such as the Dodge Tomahawk S or Ferrari, as these by default outclass every opponent in the series and don't require any tuning to be competitive. These are also cheaper and more easily accessible than most opponents in the series, making them desirable options.
Trivia[]
- Prior to the event's official introduction, it was originally called the "Hypercar Race Days" when it was leaked, it also featured a race at the Daytona Road Course. However said track has yet to be featured in this event.
- For certain races, certain drivers' cars changed colors.
- Andrew Brooks's SLR goes from Crystal Laurit Silver to Crystal Galaxit Black at Monza and Interlagos, with Roberto Sternberg taking over the silver car at Monza.
- Adriano Carrazza's 918 goes from Sapphire Blue Metallic to Racing Yellow in races from Sainte-Croix onward.
- In earlier versions, Carrazza's 918 was originally Racing Yellow in the races at Trial Mountain, Le Mans and Kyoto, before becoming Sapphire Blue Metallic at Monza and Interlagos; this was changed in the Spec II v1.40 update, and he only drives the yellow 918 in races after Interlagos.
- Kanata Kawakami's GT goes from Mark II Black with Racing Stripes to Centennial White with Racing Stripes at Interlagos.
- Coque Lopez's Vulcan goes from Helios to Dark Craft at Monza and Interlagos.
- Takuma Miyazono's Enzo goes from Rosso Corsa to Rosso Mugello at Monza and Interlagos.
- Adam Tapai's Veneno goes from green trim to red trim at Monza and Interlagos.
- AI driver C. Allain's MC20 changes from Bianco Audace to Rosso Vincente from Red Bull Ring onward, with Valerio Gallo taking over the white car in the same races.
- Despite the in-game text for Hypercar Parade events explicitly stating that collisions are strictly forbidden (sic), there are no penalties for car or wall collisions, nor is mechanical damage enabled in any of the races.
