Description[]
- "EVs might not have the most exciting image, but there is one example that shatters all preconceptions. I'm talking about the Hyundai IONIQ 5 N. The "N" at the end of its name refers to Hyundai's two testing grounds, Namyang and the Nürburgring. The IONIQ 5 N is a true embodiment of driving pleasure. In addition of a total output of 478 kW (641 HP), it has fully variable front and rear torque distribution. When set to rear-bias, this can drift, and its sound delivers the excitement of a naturally aspirated engine. No doubt, the IONIQ 5 N will change your mind about EVs. It's a beast that has raised the bar for electric cars!"
- ―In-game description of the car, from GT7's Brand Central
Car Index (GT7)[]
The IONIQ 5 made its debut in 2021 as Hyundai's first full electric vehicle. From the outset, it impressed with its clean, modern design and outstanding practicality. But the true star of the lineup arrived in 2023 with the introduction of the high-performance N model.
The "N" badge carries deep significance, representing two iconic facilities where this car was developed: Namyang, Hyundai's global R&D hub in Korea, and the legendary Nürburgring. With this heritage, the IONIQ 5 N redefined what driving pleasure could mean in an electric vehicle.
At its heart was a dual-motor system that powered the front and rear axles individually, making the car all-wheel drive. The total power output of the vehicle was 478 kW (641 HP) and 770 Nm (567.8 ft-lb) of torque in overboost mode. This power could be distributed between the front and rear axles, allowing drivers to tailor the car's handling characteristics, including the ability to indulge in thrilling rear-biased drifts. The IONIQ 5 N also featured a virtual dual-clutch transmission, cleverly simulated using regenerative braking technology. Paired with an artificial exhaust sound, it elevated the experience to new heights.
Also, its exterior and interior came adorned with exclusive enhancements that underscored its athletic persona. As a whole, this electrified powerhouse redefines the boundaries of what battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) can achieve.

Trivia[]
- Its existence was revealed by accident in the in-game news ticker announcing the Viewers Campaign event for the 2024 Gran Turismo World Series World Finals for the Nations Cup portion.[2]
- Its in-game depiction does not utilize the N e-Shift feature, which simulates the ability to shift gears in an otherwise electric vehicle.
- Additionally, it is set with N Torque Distribution set to 40/60 (permanently, as the torque-vectoring center differential part is not purchasable), N Race mode enabled, and both N Pedal and N Drift Optimizer disabled.
- In GT Auto, aero parts based on the variant that ran the 2024 Pikes Peak Hill Climb can be installed (Front Type A and Side Type A), although only if a widebody is installed, except for the rear wing (Type B).
- In the Livery Editor, some of the front parts are considered part of the Body 2 (usually the front hood) layer. This also extends to the Pikes Peak-specific front part (widebody Front Type A).
Notes[]
- ↑ The car from the Viewer Campaign was delivered on January 30, 2025 (the day of the update's release). The player had until February 13, 2025 to claim the car obtained this way.
