The Indianapolis Road Course is a racetrack first appearing in Gran Turismo 5, first debuting in the Gran Turismo 5 Time Trial Challenge demo for 2009 GT Academy hopefuls. The layout of the course used in GT5 and GT6 is the F1 Road Course, used between 2000 and 2007, which is a cutout version of the Indianapolis Superspeedway with more turns at the infield, running clockwise instead of counter-clockwise like the Superspeedway.
The circuit starts on the high-speed 1km straight before going into the more technical infield area and back onto the high speed rectangular oval. Precise control of the car is needed to win in this two-in-one high-speed and technical course.

Trivia[]
- At the time when Gran Turismo 5 Time Trial Challenge (the 2009 GT Academy demo) first released, the layout of this track was accurate. However, the track had been updated prior to the release of Gran Turismo 6 for motorbike racing. The changes included modifying the shape of turns 9 and 10 from hairpins into almost 90-degree bends and adding an additional slow-speed chicane after turn 12 that passes the steep banking (this chicane is also used by IndyCar's Indianapolis Grand Prix event). None of these changes are present in-game, as the track is a carry over from Gran Turismo 5.
- In real-life, the current layout of the track is raced both clock-wise and counter-clockwise, albeit with some minor layout changes to accommodated for various uses.
