In-game description[]
"Achieved high performance while keeping its tradition of ride comfort."
In 2003, the sports R model was added to the Jaguar S-Type line-up. Jaguar introduced this high-performance model to compete with the Mercedes AMG and BMW M series.
At first the exterior resembles the standard S-Type, but a closer look reveals how each section has been modified to enhance performance. The tyres and wheels have been enlarged to 18", the front and rear spoilers are bigger, and the front grill was adorned with a traditional wire mesh grill.
And no wonder, the fiery heart of the S-Type R is a far cry from the normal model. The engine is a supercharged 4196 cc 32-valve DOHC V8 generating maximum output of 399 BHP at 6100 rpm and maximum torque of 56.4 kgfm at 3500 rpm. These are top-class performance numbers. As a result, the S-Type R, even with its fairly heavy curb weight of 1800kg, easily achieves a top speed of 155 mph and surprising 0-62 mph acceleration time of 5.3 seconds.
The gearbox paired with this engine is a ZF-made 6-speed automatic with the traditional Jaguar J-Gate. It was given wide 18" tyres, with 245/40R18s up front and 275/35R18s in the rear. The brakes included large 4-pot opposing Brembo callipers up front to handle the power.
The suspension is double-wishbone all around, combined with the CATS electronic variable damper control system. In terms of driving feel, the tuning is not your typical, stiff high-performance car, and gives a suitable amount of Jaguar's traditional ride comfort. Naturally, the interior is correspondingly luxurious, utilising abundant wood and two-tone leather.
