Description[]

Kawasaki was the manufacturer who introduced the motorcycle world to the concept of the Motard-style bike—a machine mating an offroad chassis to smaller-diameter, street-appropriate rims and high-grip tyres. This model, dubbed the D-Tracker, rolls on 17-inch rims. Its fitted with a liquid-cooled, four-stroke, single-cylinder, dual-overhead-cam engine that Kawasaki's engineers developed from the KLX250 using their many years of offroading experience.

Motard bikes were born in America's Superbikers races, which began in 1979 when a group of racing aficionados got the idea of inviting the best riders from road racing, motocross, dirt racing, and other popular bike competitions to see who was the best at jumping and just about every other riding contest imaginable.

When the phenomenon of the festival-like Superbikers events crossed the Atlantic to Europe, motor cycle fans flocked to them from the get-go, and it wasn't long until the Europeans had their own superbike championship. Today, the superbike fire has spread to every corner of the globe.

The D-Tracker retains the 17-inch rims of the KLX offroad bike but also features suspension kits designed for a road-going machine. The result is Motard-style damping properties, different from those of offroad and on-road bikes. This model played a major role in popularising Motard bikes in Japan.
