- "A test vehicle readying the IS F for commercial sale, shown at the Tokyo Auto Salon."
- ―In-game catch text for the car, from GT6's Dealership
The Lexus IS F Racing Concept '08 is a concept race car produced by Lexus. It only appeared in Gran Turismo 5 and Gran Turismo 6.
In-game description[]
The IS F is known as the sporty saloon of the Lexus Brand. It was sold in Japan from December 25, 2007, just barely within the year, but early that next year at the Tokyo Auto Salon, an IS F with an unusual appearance surprised fans. With a large air dam in the front poised very low, two carbon canards on the left and right, a towering rear wing and diffuser that barely misses the ground, giant racing tyres and massive wheelarches wide enough to produce aerodynamic effects on their own; though the car was still recognisable as the IS F, it was dressed as if it were a fully fledged DTM machine.
Though it raised hopes that maybe in fact, a Japanese automaker would finally compete in the DTM, it was made known that this machine called the IS F Racing Concept, was simply a test car that was created during the development of the IS F. It was a machine created in order to have developers of the IS F experience driving at the very limits of performance on circuits, to hone their senses, and to experience on their own the joy of controlling a machine, so they might apply what they learned to the production car.
It has participated in various events and has shown its speed as well as its brilliant engine sound, but no details regarding its engine or other details have ever been announced. Though fans may be disappointed to hear that there are no plans to participate in races such as the DTM with this car, it is not hard to imagine the spectacular role this car played in affecting the production IS F.

Trivia[]
- As it was designed as a DTM-inspired car, it is eligible to compete in the German Touring Car Championship Seasonal Events in GT5.
- It is speculated that the car is a test mule based on a 2004/2005 Opel Vectra DTM, as both cars featured a Bosch Motronic DTM ECU, visible in the rear interior of the IS F, as well as DTM-spec AP Racing brakes and an identical wheelbase of 2,800 mm (110 in).[1]
