The Lexus RC F GT3 '17 is a race car produced by Lexus. It appears in Gran Turismo Sport (as part of Update 1.15) and Gran Turismo 7.

The car appears to be the #54, driven by Albert Costa and Philipp Frommenwiler, who participated in the Pro class of the 2017 International GT Open season. The car achieved a 3rd place finish in both Driver's and Team's Championships. This is reflected on the name it had in GT Sport, Lexus RC F GT3 (Emil Frey Racing) '17.

An alternate livery of this car seen in GT7 is based on the #14 Vasser Sullivan livery used in the 2021 IMSA SportsCar Championship, while another added in version 1.35 is based on #50 Anest Iwata Racing livery used in the 2023 Super GT Championship and driven by Igor Fraga, Yuga Furutani, and female driver Miki Koyama.

Liveries[]

Three liveries are available for this car:

  • ANEST IWATA Racing (#50, GT7 version 1.35 onwards)
  • Variation (#14 Vasser Sullivan, GT7 only)
  • Emil Frey Racing (#54)

In-game description[]

"Emil Frey Racing was one of the first teams with a GT3 version of the Lexus RC F."

Lexus had been running a RC F based machine in the VLN series and the Super GT series since 2015, but this was as a specially allowed vehicle with no homologation. They used this experience to move forward with their development, and entered the RC F GT3 prototype in round 9 of the 2016 Fall VLN series. Here they successfully won the SPX class for specially permitted cars.

The prototype was developed with the intent of eventually delivering a GT machine to GT3 race teams around the world, so it was to be controllable for even amateur racers, and provide reliable performance with reinforced components. By changing designs through thorough durability calculations for every component, weight was reduced while securing rigidity. The design of various parts including the front and rear fenders was also changed to further improve aerodynamic performance. The engine is a 5 litre DOHC V8 of the production model tuned to over 532 BHP. This car acquired homologation, and debuted as the Lexus RC F GT3 in 2017.

In the following year of 2017, the car was also provided to Emil Frey Racing of Switzerland, who were a part of the development team for the RC F GT3 machine. Participating in the GT Open Championship of Europe, they won 4 races out of 14, and placed 3rd in the season team rankings.

Dealership (GT7)[]

This Lexus RC F GT3 was created to wage war in the FIA GT3 championships. This car has seen action in Japanese Super GT races, the U.S. IMSA Series, and the European GT Series. And the amazing thing is that this svelte Lexus machine has won in every series it has appeared in!

Trivia[]

Lexus Suzuki TMS livery

The Suzuki livery used during 2019 Tokyo Motor Show Manufacturer's Exhibition race.

  • This car was used to represent Suzuki during the Manufacturer's Exhibition race held at 2019 Gran Turismo World Tour in Tokyo (coinciding with 2019 Tokyo Motor Show), as Suzuki at the time did not have a Gr.3 car. The livery the car used in the race is based on Team Suzuki Ecstar MotoGP motorcycles used from 2015 to 2019. Ironically, Suzuki themselves are an independent brand; the reason for having this car represent them is unknown. This livery cannot be accessed under normal means unless accurately recreated under the Livery Editor. Suzuki started representation in the Manufacturers' Series/Cup with the Suzuki Vision Gran Turismo (Gr.3 Version) starting from the second half of the 2022 GTWS season.
  • This was the Manufacturers' Cup-winning car of the 2018 season of the FIA-Certified Gran Turismo Championships, and the inaugural winner in GT Sport.
  • In GT Sport, despite a minor difference in power outputs, both this car and the prototype car share the same Balance of Performance ratings.
  • This car, in the Vasser Sullivan and Anest Iwata livery in GT7, is the first IMSA GTD and GT3-based GT300 car, respectively, to be represented in the series.
