Pre-race dialogue[]
Race | Driver | Quote | Notes |
---|---|---|---|
Willow Springs International Raceway: Big Willow | K. Pounder | "I'm Kevan Pounder, from the United States. Man, I really love kei cars—They're small, fast and super cool! Why does Japan get to have all the fun? I want to see kei cars in the U.S. too!" | |
I. Fraga | "I'm Igor Fraga, from Brazil. For my Missions endurance race, I drove in a Honda S600. But today I'll be going with a Suzuki Cappuccino, which I just picked up from the Used Cars dealership." | ||
N. Rubilar | "Hola, I'm Nicolás Rubilar, from Chile! I saw a guy compete in a DeLorean on this track for the American Sunday Cup 600. I swear I've seen his face before, but I can't quite put my finger on who he was!" | ||
Autodrome Lago Maggiore - East End Reverse | M. Pinnell | "I'm Mark Pinnell, from Canada. I'll be competing in a car I drove for a Missions endurance race—It meets the regulations, after all." | |
A. Brooks | "I'm Andrew Brooks, from Ontario, Canada. Lake Maggiore's hilly terrain makes it a really fun track to race. Just remember to control your speed when entering those corners!" | ||
G. Mangano | "I'm Giorgio Mangani, from Sicily, Italy. Our French friend, Beauvois, sure loves his baguettes. But I am partial to Italian focaccia. And for dessert, a hometown favourite—gelato!" | ||
Tokyo Expressway - South Clockwise | I. Fraga | "Hi there, I'm Igor Fraga. I was born in Japan but raised in Brazil. I'm a big fan of the Suzuki Cappuccino, and am always on the lookout for one at the Used Cars dealership. For this race I'll be racing in a favourite from my extensive collection." | |
T. Yamanaka | "I'm Yamanaka, from Japan. I actually own a Honda S2000, but the S660 is pretty wild too. Even more so when it's been tuned up!" | ||
J. Wong | "I'm Jonathan Wong, from Hong Kong. Nothing beats zooming down the Tokyo Expressway at night in a tuned-up car! Ah, both Tokyo and Hong Kong look truly beautiful at night, don't they?" |
Strategy[]
This event is considerably harder than in previous GT games, as opponent cars are upgraded, which can make it difficult to even make it to a podium finish. It's advised for players to upgrade their Kei cars in order to achieve better positions as they are very hard to catch up when stock (though players should not exceed more than 400 PP when upgrading). It’s also important to turn traction control off in order to increase cornering speeds.
Though it can be more expensive, the Honda Beat with the K20C1 engine fits under the Performance Point limit, thus making the series significantly easier. The car can be more of a handful to drive with the extra engine power, though, so control should be practiced when using this combination.
Trivia[]
- This is the only non-race car event in World Circuits to feature cars bearing driver numbers. This is likely because the AI listing is carried over from the Autopolis One Hour Endurance mission.
- Whenever an opponent car's thumbnail appears, the driver number box will not be displayed in the thumbnail.
- Because of the above point and owing to the inclusion of the Suzuki Cappuccino, several driver and car combinations were either removed or changed. These include:
- Tetsuya Sugawara, Adam Wilk and Hayden Hunter driving the Honda Beat were removed.
- Simon Bishop driving the Daihatsu Copen was removed.
- Igor Fraga switched from the Honda S660 to the Cappucino.
- Despite meeting the requirements of a kei car, the Suzuki Jimny XC '18 is not used by any opponents in the race. This, in addition to the opponent list largely being a carryover from the Autopolis One Hour Endurance mission, may because the Jimny already has its own event, the Jimny Cup.
