- "Small but interesting to drive, this series of races features Japanese microcars."
- ―In-game description (International versions)
The Lightweight K Cup (named as Lightweight K-Car Cup in the international versions) is a 3 race non-series event in Gran Turismo 4. It is housed in the Beginner Events area of the World Map. It is an event strictly limited to compact, lightweight cars of no more than 3400 mm.
Strategy[]
If you've already beaten Sunday Cup, you can choose to use the Autobianchi A112 Abarth '79 in this event. However, it's quite sluggish, and there's better options.
If you plan on buying a car for the event, the two best options are the Suzuki Cappuccino (EA21R) '95 and the Daihatsu Copen Active Top '02. These cars have their own manufacturer events (Suzuki K Cup and Copen Race, respectively), allowing them to serve a purpose beyond this event. Considering the Cappuccino can be purchased for as little as 5,102 credits from the early-90's used lot, it's a brilliant value-for-money option, especially as your first car.
The opponents in this event are quite low-powered, so upgrading your own car shouldn't be necessary. Buying an oil change and setting ASM and TCS to 0 is recommended, however. You can buy the racing flywheel and computer if you want a safe victory.
The prize car from this event, the Ginetta G4 '64, can immediately be used in British Lightweights event once you obtain your B licence. An oil change and a stage 1 turbo kit is all it needs to comfortably win.

Trivia[]
- The Nissan PAO '89 appears as the opponent car, despite its use not being allowed by players due to its length exceeding the length restriction (it is also not a kei car in real life as a matter of fact).
- Despite the Daihatsu Midget '63 meeting the required length limit for this championship, it is ineligible due its classification as a special car (due to being 3-wheeled).
- This is one of four GT4 beginner events where the player is rewarded with a prize car that is also available from the start in Arcade Mode, the other being the 4WD Challenge, the Sunday Cup, and the Spider & Roadster event.
