In-game description[]
"An advanced version of the MGF born in the midst of manufacturer reorganisation."
The mid-engined sports car introduced by MG of the UK in 1995, was the MGF. While keeping costs low by utilising components from the Rover 100, an FF compact car, it was decked out in various original mechanisms, such as the hydragas suspension that omits the use of metal springs, and a variable valve timing system.
At 153.9 inches long, 64.1 inches wide, and 50.0 inches tall, its size is compact and recreates the image of lightweight sportscars that MG established in their golden years. The engine mounted behind the cockpit is a 1796cc DOHC inline 4 cylinder. In addition to the normal valve drive system, there is a version that utilises VVC (variable valve timing), and the standard model produced 118 BHP while the VVC model produced 143 BHP. The gearbox was offered in only a 5 speed MT. Because the vehicle weight was extremely light at roughly 1 ton, the MGF was able to achieve a maximum speed of 121 mph in the standard version, and 130 mph in the VVC spec.
Though the MGF was well received, MG Rover was being swallowed by the waves of reorganization happening all over the world in the automobile industry at this time. Affected by this, the MGF stopped production temporarily, and had to wait for a restart. They were eventually able to get a fresh start thanks to an investment group in the UK, and the MGF made new history from 2002 as the MG-TF.
The MG-TF shares its main components with the MGF, but the exterior and engine had been refined. The front facia was given the 4 bar grille characteristic of the MG, and the engine was also upgraded to produce 134 BHP in the standard model and 158 BHP in the VVC version. The rear suspension was also changed to the newest multilink suspension.
From 2005, MG Rover came under control of the Nanjing Automobile Group in China, but the production of the MG-TF continued in the Longbridge plant in the UK.
