In-game description[]

"This high-output model of the Merak has been tuned for even sharper performance."

The Maserati Merak, a mid-engine sports car introduced in 1972, was developed as a sister model to the Bora that came out the previous year. Both vehicles shared the same basic exterior styling, penned by renown designer Giugiaro; however, the rear ends were noticeably different, as the Bora was a fastback, while the Merak was a notchback with a fastback-style pillar.

The engines of the two cars were also different. Where the Bora had a rumbling V-8 in its engine bay, the Merak featured a 187.4 HP 3.0-liter V-6 borrowed from the Citroën SM, thus allowing the Merak to adopt a 2+2 layout and boast more luggage space.

In 1975, a high-performance version of the Merak was offered, called the Merak SS, which came equipped with a 216 HP engine that increased the car's top speed from 225 km/h to 250 km/h.

Legend Cars (GT7)[]

The Maserati Merak is a fine example of a beautiful mid-engine supercar from the 1970s. It was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, who began at Fiat in 1955 and later worked at... Bertone for six years, and later at Ghia until 1968. He subsequently established "Italdesign," a design firm that would create many masterpieces. The Maserati Merak was designed during Giugiaro's early Italdesign days... This stunning new Maserati was first revealed at the 1972 Paris Motor Show. The Merak SS is the lighter and more powerful model that debuted in 1975. This 1980 model is powered by a 216 BHP version of the V6 shared with the Citroën-Maserati SM. Although the striking Merak uses a mid-mounted engine, it is actually a 2+2 with small rear seats... Which is very rare for an exotic high-performance car.
