The Mazda Autozam AZ-1 A-Spec '91 is a road car produced by Mazda. This car is a tuned version of the Mazda Autozam AZ-1 '92 built by Mazdaspeed. It so far appeared only in Gran Turismo 2.

This car has a very endearing look. The round headlights look like eyes, with visors like eyelids. Unified design and color matching result in styling that is both cute and powerful. But the handling outshines the appearance. "A machine with unprecedented handling" is one of the praises sung for the AZ-1 Spec. In any case, this car is one of a kind in the way it turns. Thanks to its compact body, the driver feels as if his own hands and feet are making the turns during slalom or gymkhana maneuvers. Never before has a mass-market car provided such a direct feeling in the turns. On the other hand, at higher speeds the mid-engined chassis has a tendency to spin. Any handling problems may be addressed by revising the suspension tuning and the tire pressures, and the Mazdaspeed Touring Kit A-Spec model has gone a long way toward correcting these problems. The suspension features harder than standard bushings and adjustable shock absorbers. These modifications have resulted in superb handling. Steering response is sharp, body roll is reduced, and rear traction and stability are significantly improved. Larger rear tires would make the handling perfect, but A-Spec rules prohibit them.
