―In-game description of the car, from GT7's Brand Central
"The fourth generation Demio, which made its debut in 2014, is perhaps best known for its diesel engine. This engine is a 1.5L straight-four turbo, developed especially for use in compact cars. It is capable of over 20 kgfm in the low-RPM range, and feels great when it really gets going. The wheelbase is noticeably longer than the previous model, giving it impressively stable handing."

Car Index (GT7)[]

In 2014, the Mazda 2 (Demio) entered its 4th generation with a full model change.

Styling-wise it employed Mazda's own 'Kodo' design philosophy also found on their higher grade models, giving the car a presence that puts it on par with design-conscious European models. Another notable feature is that in addition to gasoline engines, the car was also available with Mazda's newly developed 1.5L turbodiesel 'SKYACTIV-D' engine. This engine boasted performance equivalent to a 2.5L gasoline engine, tuned to produce 25.5 kgfm of torque for the 6-speed automatic model, and 22.4 kgfm for the 6-speed manual model which was also able to achieve a stunning 3.3 l/100 km on the Japanese JC08 mode fuel economy test. These diesel models proved to be very popular, with over 60% of the initial orders being for diesel engined cars.

There are 3 model grades available for diesel cars. This included the base XD model, the XD Touring which includes practical options such as LED lights and cruise control, and the XD Touring L Package which offered such luxury options as white leather seats and a leather bound steering wheel, though the entire lineup offered quality beyond what was expected of its class.

Café Conversations (GT7)[]

Stella[]

This Demio is Mazda's contribution to the compact car field. It actually became so well known as the 'Mazda2' outside of Japan... That it was reintroduced to the Japanese market in 2019 under that very name! Mazda is famous for its beautiful rear-wheel sportscars... And legendary race cars that have won titles the world over. I'm sure that you'll run into one eventually!

Tom Matano[]

This car reminds me of a happy little rabbit in the way it sits slightly inclined towards the front. It looks like a fun runabout rather than a typical commuter econobox. Unlike retro-modern cars, like the current Mini and Fiat 500... This car is a modern interpretation of the original Fiat 500 with Topolino character.

Ikuo Maeda[]

Ah yes, I was the chief designer of the car that preceded this model, the DEMIO. This model was not designed as a single car but as a series. The three models, the ATENZA, AXELA, and the DEMIO, were all designed simultaneously. You know, I actually love small cars like the DEMIO. I especially love Italian compact cars like the Autobianchi and the Alfa Romeo Alfasud. I once even owned an old British Mini. So when I first found out that I would be designing the DEMIO I was really happy about it!
