- For the Gr.1 version of the car, see Mazda LM55 Vision Gran Turismo Gr.1.
The Mazda LM55 Vision Gran Turismo is the 11th Vision Gran Turismo concept car, appearing in Gran Turismo 6 (via an update on December 25th, 2014), Gran Turismo Sport, and Gran Turismo 7.
Description[]
"A fusion of speed and elegance, aimed at an overall victory at the Le Mans."
The Vision Gran Turismo project is the setting for the world's best automakers to develop concept cars for motorsports fanatics The Mazda LM55 Vision Gran Turismo pushes the boundaries at the intersection of technology and design. This is not your traditional Mazda but a vision of the future with a healthy dose of respect for the past. It's the product of setting your sights on outright victory at the world's most demanding endurance race, the famed 24 Heures du Mans.
For the design of the Mazda LM55 Vision Gran Turismo, the Mazda team blended agility with elegance. Its dynamic silhouette is rawn with sensual form inspired by Mazda's Kodo design philosophy. Even the shape of the front grille is an interpretation of the Mazda LM55 Vision Gran Turismo, reminiscent of the famed 787B that took overall victory at the 1991 24 Hours of Le Mans, is powerful yet graceful.
The Mazda LM55 Vision Gran Turismo barely tips the scale with lightweight, carbon fiber components, including a monocoque chassis clad in striking atmospheric-white paint. Pair this with advanced drive train technology that offers the epitome of power, efficiency and durability and the result is an exceptional power to weight ratio exceeding that most cars in its class.
The Mazda LM55 Vision Gran Turismo is Mazda's vision of the future born of their unrelenting challenge spirit.
Brand Central[]
The Mazda LM55 Vision Gran Turismo is a real beauty! It's the perfect iteration of Mazda's "Kodo: Soul of Motion" design philosophy. One of the inspirations for its styling was the legendary 787B race car that made history at Le Mans. The designers attempted to capture the past and future of Mazda in a single design, and I'd say they succeeded. Its powertrain is capable of incredible power, efficiency, and durability. And who knows? Perhaps a victory at Le Mans is on the cards for this mean machine too.

Trivia[]

The billboard seen in GT Sport.
- The car was displayed as the central feature for the 2015 Goodwood Festival of Speed along with the Mazda 787B '91.
- While the interior in GT6 is shown as a dark silhouette, a fully detailed interior for this car was later added in GT Sport. This is one of only seven Vision Gran Turismo cars from GT6 to receive fully detailed interiors, the others being the Nissan CONCEPT 2020 Vision Gran Turismo, the Toyota FT-1 Vision Gran Turismo, and the three variants of the SRT Tomahawk, as well as the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo in GT7's 1.54 update.
- However, the interior that was added to GT Sport is different to one shown in GT6's Vision GT menu for the car.
- In Gran Turismo 6, this car was unpaintable prior to Update 1.16.
- In GT6's Update 1.20, minor cosmetic changes were made to the car, such as new decals, wheel rim color, carbon brake covers, and Dunlop tires.
- Judging by its sound, a quad-rotor engine with SkyActiv technology is used.
- In GT Sport, its car number cannot be changed in the Livery Editor, unlike its Gr.1 variant.
- The updated version saw a change in the driver names. Whereas GT6's version featured "D. JENKINS" with an American flag (for Derek Jenkins), the updated version is replaced with a French flag with the name "J. MONTOUSSE" (for Julien Montousse, the Design Director at Mazda North American Operations). The same also applies to its Gr.1 variant.
- This car and the Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo can be seen on a "Keep Making History" billboard on the Tokyo Expressway tracks as well as Broad Bean Raceway in GT Sport; these banners are based on a pre-release artwork.
- In the Livery Editor, its stock Dunlop tire stickers cannot be recovered after the default livery is removed; this is also true for the corresponding Gr.1 car. This also happens with the Michelin stickers from the Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo and the Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo Gr.1.
