In-game description[]

This description is taken from the NTSC version of Gran Turismo 2:

The RX-7 A-Spec GT concept car was built by Mazdaspeed by adding the GT Concept aero kit to the previous Touring Kit A-Spec tuning parts. What distinguishes this car are extensive modifications not just of mechanical components, but of the aero parts as well. The muscular-looking and functional aero parts incorporate aerodynamic technology perfected through racing experience, and are modeled after an RX-7 entered in the All-Japan GT Championship. The nose, wings, rear skirt and other aero parts are all designed for maximum aerodynamic performance. Highlighting the mechanical tuning parts is the Version R suspension kit with adjustable-clearance shock absorbers and a 12-setting damping power adjustment mechanism. These upgrades and others, such as stiffer stabilizer bars and bushings, give the RX-7 - considered milder after a minor change - a suspension that is direct, with a highly solid feel. Modifications in the intake, exhaust, and ignition systems enable excitingly fast revving and better power feel, for better all-around performance. The twin-plate clutch, selective limited-slip differential, reinforced PPF and other improvements make for an extremely exciting ride. The sharper acceleration requires considerable skill in handling. In short, this car's maximum performance is considerable, and it requires a high level of driving skill for the best control.

Acquisition[]

GT2[]

This car can be won by winning the third race of the FR Challenge (GT2), located at Mid-Field Raceway.

Trivia[]

  • Although this vehicle cannot be racing modified, in the game files there exists an RM livery scheme. This would later be used as a basis for the Mazda RX-7 GT-C LM Edition, lacking the number 8 on the doors.
  • This car can be upgraded to a maximum of 682BHP, 124BHP higher than the LM Edition of the same car.
  • Due to an error in the programming, the tires of the car can be seen though the fender.
