In-game descriptionEdit

This description is taken from the NTSC version of Gran Turismo 2:

The FD3S, although coming out 8 years after the latest generation RX-7's birth, sports an exterior that is still fresh. Flush-mounted running lights are one of the few changes. A pentagonal radiator intake added to the front bumper resolves an overheating problem, and prevents extreme power drops while racing in the summer. The Type R has a less sporty designation than the RS, but with its 276 BHP engine and oversized, adjustable spoiler, still provides plenty of speed. The dampers aren't quite to RS specification, but are better than those of the baseline model. There is more body roll and a slightly lower maximum cornering speed than with the RS, but the Type R still gets the job done: On the Tsukuba Circuit, it crossed the finish line only a half-second behind the RS. For the driver who is going to modify the suspension anyway, the Type R is more than adequate. Relative to the Type R, the Type RB should be considered the base-level model. It has 261 BHP engine, no adjustable spoiler, and small dampers, but is priced low enough to make it suitable for later modification. The Type RS and Type R feature tires that provide good grip in dry or wet conditions, and in a wide range of temperatures. They have high limits and excellent control, and are also part of the Type RB's S package. The FD3S is rumored to be the last advanced model in the RX-7 line. The engine's light weight and low center of gravity reduce yaw inertial moment for a comfortable ride and handling that only a rotary engine model can deliver. May the rotary engine sports car live forever!
