In-game description[]

"Mazda's dream rotary race car."

The MAZDA RX-VISION is a concept car announced at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. Based on Mazda's "Kodo - Soul of Motion" design theme, this was a challenge to create the most beautiful FR sportscar that Mazda could come up with. This car is also powered by the next generation rotary engine ""SKYACTIV-R," a dream that Mazda wants to bring to life in the future.

Overcoming numerous technical difficulties, Mazda successfully introduced a commercial rotary engine through the Cosmo Sports back in 1967. Thereafter as the only manufacturer to mass produce rotary engines, they worked to improve output, fuel economy, and durability, and even took the overall victory in the 1991 Le Mans 24 Hour Endurance Race in the 787B.

The MADZA RX-VISION GT3 CONCEPT expresses the design beauty of the base car in the form of a more aggressive race car. To meet the performance requirements of the Gr.3[1] class, the design draws from the 787B engine concept, with a 4 rotor engine brought back to life using SKYACTIV technology. This new rotary engine is mounted in a lightweight body to achieve unprecedented performance.

Dealership[]

The MAZDA RX-VISION GT3 CONCEPT is a race car straight out of a fantasy. It comes equipped with naturally-aspirated 4-rotor engine... ...that's based on the R26B, which was used to power the legendary Mazda 787B. And produces 493.1 HP! The car that served the foundation for this machine was the RX-VISION, unveiled in 2015. Ultra-high revs and a unique high-pitched rotary sound combine to provide a truly thrilling ride.

Café (GT7)[]

Chris[]

This car is based on the RX-VISION that was introduced at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. It's powered by a 4 rotor engine, and you can tell from its shape that it's a front engine, rear wheel drive car.[2] This was a vision of the future of the Rotary sportscar. The RX-VISION was subsequently made into a racing car. The engine is a naturally aspirated 4 rotor rotary called the SKYACTIV-R. The car's weight is 1,250 kg, and it produces 562.1 BHP. It truly feels like the return of the legendary 787B as a front engine rear wheel drive car![2]

Kagurazaka[]

This is such an exciting car! From an angle, it seems to begin with a tyre and end with a tyre, and the cabin takes up about half the body. The height of its shoulder is determined by the suspension, and the rear half of the cabin sits on the driven wheels. This produces a lot of traction, and that raw power is reflected in the clean lines of the car's sides... And channelled to propel the long nose forward! The clean design features classically Japanese Inspirations such as flowing rivers and split bamboo. It could even be said to combine an angelic boldness with a devilish level of detail. It really is the epitome of 'Kodo' design! Incidentally, the fact that a race version was produced, seemingly out of the blue... Well, it's probably related to the fact that the design boss in Hiroshima is a race driver himself. I really can't wait to hear that rotary engine roar!

Trivia[]

  • Because of the naming of the car, this car is often mistakenly referred to as a Vision Gran Turismo vehicle.
    • Ironically, the car was incorrectly tagged as a Vision GT car in GT7 in it's car tags list, although it does not bear the Vision GT logo in the car's thumbnail. This was later fixed in an update.
  • The Mazda RX-Vision GT3 Concept is the second Gr.3 car with more than one default color, after the GT by Citroën Race Car Gr.3.
    • It is also the only Gr.3 car with named colors.
  • The car's engine startup choice is recycled from Mazda 787B '91.
  • Although the original RX-Vision did not have number of installed rotors defined, the car is stated to have four rotors, and is naturally aspirated. According to the Mazda official website, it has a 2.6-litre displacement at 2600cc (650x4).
  • The car's oval Balance of Performance settings, for some reason, used that of Porsche 911 RSR (991) '17, including a lower rev limit at 8,700 rpm. This was fixed in version 1.60, which also fixed a distorted hood racing number box.
  • Two special events were launched to coincide with the car's launch: a special time trial event on Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps (held between May 21 to June 5, 2020), and a livery design contest (held between May 21 to June 15, 2020).
  • This car is the secondary cover car of Gran Turismo 7 (red side), where it is joined alongside the Porsche Vision Gran Turismo (blue side).
