In-game description[]
Car Index (GT7)[]
"This motorsports-based model epitomizes the core concepts of the Roadster."
Released in 2015, the fourth-generation ND MX-5 received worldwide praise for its return to the original concept of "Jinba Mai," which translates to "rider and horse, one body." This essence was especially apparent in the NR-A trim level, which was intended for track use.
The NR-A first made its appearance on the second-generation NB MX-5, catering to those who enjoyed driving their sports cars on the track. The concept proved popular enough for Mazda to include an NR-A in the ND lineup.
The section of the frame that connects the transmission to the rear differential was upgraded for the ND NR-A, along with the driveshaft, LSD and differential case. The size of the radiator and brake rotors were increased, and the suspension adopted height-adjustable dampers made by Bilstein. Another useful feature was the Multi-Information Display that allowed the driver to get vital stats through switches on the steering wheel.
This 2022 model has further improvements, including a new Kinematic Posture Control system that stabilizes the rear end of the car. The options list also features racing equipment such as roll bars and bucket seats, which come especially useful for hot-lapping sessions. The NR-A is the ideal track car for weekend warriors because of its excellent and predictable handling, with power delivery that's just enough to make things fun and exciting.
Brand Central (GT7)[]
The NR-A is a sports car with a very special place in Mazda's MX-5/Roadster[1] series. It was developed to be driven on both city streets and the race track. The standard model is equipped with enhanced drivetrain, large brake rotors, and an upgraded suspension system. It even included an NR-A-branded roll cage and bucket seats, items required for competitive racing. An MX-5 with a long and storied history, the NR-A bowed in 2002, during the era of the second-gen NB Roadster. The same year, Mazda launched a one-make race series for numbered NR-A-grade Roadsters. The Roadster Party Race continues to be one of Japan's most popular race events.

Ikuo Maeda[]
This ND Roadster is a car that I worked particularly hard on. An avid fan of motorsports since my student days, I started competing in official races in the NB Roadster. Later, I bought an NR-A version of the ND Roadster and competed in one-make races. What I focused on most as the designer of the ND Roadster was how it was to look in motion. That is, it had to look cool when racing on a track. So in designing a shape for that purpose... I kept imagining its form exiting a corner with the load on its rear tires. Presently, I'm competing in Japan's Super Endurance[2] series as both the team manager and driver of Mazda Spirit Racing. I race in a Roadster with this very livery, and we're lucky to have many other roadster participating in this class.[3] Whether the track be real or virtual, I hope we can all enjoy racing together as challengers with the same goals! And I hope you'll keep up to date on the latest activities of Mazda Spirit Racing, too.

Trivia[]
- Initial promotional screenshots included a tow hook. This is not featured by default in the in-game model, and instead must be installed from GT Auto.
- Like with the original Roadster S, it can also be used to recreate the cut Roadster S (ND) N200, previously from Gran Turismo Sport, through the use of custom parts in GT Auto and a recreated livery.
- Despite being referred to as the 2022 NR-A model, some of its parts were carried over from the 2015 S model, where the wheels are gray instead of black and the rear emblems are still in the old style.
