- "An improved and more cost effective GT3 machine."
- ―In-game catch text for the car, from GT7's car collection
The Mercedes-AMG GT3 '20 is a race car produced by Mercedes-Benz under its AMG brand. It first appeared in Gran Turismo 7, where it was added as part of Update 1.32. The car in-game is based on the presentation version unveiled in 2019 at the Nürburgring.
In-game Description[]
- "The AMG GT3 is a popular race car that has performed at GT3 races all over the world. This is an update to the original model which debuted in 2019. In addition to being more aerodynamic, it has undergone a chassis overhaul to improve tyre performance. More durable than ever, and featuring a new parts management system, the AMG GT3 is optimised for private teams. And with its greatly enlarged front grille, you'll know it straight away from its predecessor."
- ―In-game description of the car, from GT7's Brand Central
The Mercedes-AMG GT3 was based on the Mercedes-AMG GT sports car that was unveiled to the public at the Paris Motor Show in 2014. This FIA (Federation Internationale de l'Automobile) homologated GT3 race car appeared on the international motorsports scene in 2016.
This updated 2020 model was introduced in 2019 with a focus on further reducing running costs as a customer race car. Improvements like a more durable engine and better protection for the radiator through a redesigned front end helped keep the costs of running a GT3 car more affordable for privateers.
The car's aerodynamics were improved through the addition of a front splitter and winglets, as well as a large wing and diffuser at the rear. The engineers also reduced the car's weight by using carbon fiber anywhere and everywhere possible.
The lower portion of the front grille was significantly widened, and the front and rear lights were updated. Although it retained the distinctive design of the previous model, many details on the car were updated to match the refreshed production model.

Trivia[]

The car's bugged side mirrors.
- The car's default configuration is for sprint races; endurance foglights can be installed at GT Auto.
- The version of the car used, and as obtained from participating, in the Mercedes-AMG Virtual Championship Hot Laps event has endurance foglights installed by default.
- There was a bug with the car's side mirrors, where a solid orange paint appears instead of a reflection, even if the rear mirror shell has been painted (this does not occur when the car is being raced inside the cockpit view, however). This was fixed in version 1.34.
- The GT Auto paint chip for the car's default livery (added in version 1.35) was named "AMG GT3 EVO '20 Orange". This acknowledges the semi-official "Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo" name used in several other sources. This was changed to "AMG GT3 '20 Orange" in version 1.42, omitting the "EVO" from its name.
- The livery used in the Mercedes-AMG Virtual Championship Hot Laps event was designed by iLiVERiES.
