In-game description[]
This description is taken from the NTSC version of Gran Turismo 2:
More stylish and sportier than previous Mercedes-Benz coupes, the CLK brings the Geneva Coupe Concept car to life. The 2.0 liter, 4-cylinder, 16-valve CLK 200 is the entry-level car in Europe. Its 134 BHP at 5,500 rpm and 140 lb-ft of torque between 3,700-4,500 rpm make it more of a luxury coupe than a performance coupe. An upscale European choice, and the entry point of the American lineup, is the CLK 320, which has Mercedes-Benz's first production V6 engine, a lightweight aluminum alloy unit with three valves per cylinder and a single overhead camshaft per cylinder bank. A balance shaft gives it the smoothness expected in a luxury coupe. It makes 215 BHP at 5,500 rpm, with 229 lb-ft of torque between 3,000 and 4,600 rpm. Although the CLK shares some chassis components with the C-Class sedan, Mercedes-Benz considers it to be a completely different line. Excepting the SL roadster-based SLC of the 1970s, the CLK is the first Mercedes coupe since the 540K of the late 1930s not to be based on a sedan. It has room inside for four people. Its independent double-wishbone front, 5-link rear suspension is tuned for comfort but gives very good handling characteristics as well. In any form, the Mercedes-Benz CLK is a good car for a winding road or the Autobahn.
