Car Index (GT7)[]

The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, which debuted at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, was a super sportscar developed independently by AMG, the high performance car development division that also serves as the motorsports division of Mercedes.

It was immediately in the spotlight all over the world for having gull-winged doors reminiscent of the famous 300 SL, and for the fact that it had performance specs on par with Italian rivals.

Mounted front-mid engine in the all aluminium space frame was the M159, a tuned 6.2 litre V8 engine based on the AMG63 series engine. It produced 563 BHP and 66.3 kgfm of torque and combined with a Getrag 7-speed DCT, it achieves 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds with a top speed of 317 km/h.

The SLS AMG GT3 was a racing car based on this SLS AMG, modified to comply with FIA GT3 regulations.

The front and rear bumpers and side sills have been changed to a more aerodynamic design, adding an adjustable wing at the rear. The front/rear wings were also widened, and a cooling duct was added to the bonnet. Aside from being functional, the styling is notably more aggressive. The engine is shared with the commercial car, and though there are no official figures, it is said to have been tuned to exceed 591 BHP.

The transmission was changed to a full racing 6-speed sequential with paddle shifters. Composite brakes were utilised with competition ABS, the steering was made direct-ratio and the car was given a special adjustable suspension.

This car participated in races starting in 2011 and out of the 101 races it took part in this year, it won 25 times.

Trivia[]

  • In GT6, it was not possible to add driver numbers to the car until version 1.12.
  • The default livery of the car in GT Sport and GT7 appears to be based on the #9 HTP Motorsport car used at the 2011 24 Hours of Dubai.
    • If the default livery is removed, the car essentially reverts into the GT6 version of the car. Note that a blank livery without a custom paint color or a decal applied cannot be shared.
    • The #35 on the car's number box is a reference to the 2011 Black Falcon SLS that raced at the Blancpain Endurance Series.

Notes[]

  1. Possibly referring to the road-going car, as the SLS AMG was Mercedes-Benz's first GT3 car.
  2. Spelt in-game with a space in-between "GT" and "3".
  3. As GT Sport's servers has been shut down on January 31, 2024, and as the last Manufacturer Series race in GT Sport was held on December 25, 2021, it is no longer possible to obtain the car this way.
