"Devised by F1 legend John Cooper, this very special Mini is designed to win."
The Mini Cooper 'S' is a sports model of the first Mini. Though the Mini was originally designed to be an economical people's car able to carry 4 adult passengers in a minimum package, it also happened to have great handling characteristics. The 1959 and 1960 F1 Constructors' Champion, the Cooper Car Company and John Cooper created the new Mini Cooper and the even more high performance Mini Cooper 'S'. These models were equipped with twin carbs and disc brakes, features seldom seen in compact cars of its day.
The 970 'S' was a model with its engine displacement adjusted to 970 cc in order to make it fit within a certain race classification, and produces 65 BHP. (The standard 848 cc engine produces 33.5 BHP).
The model was successful in touring car races but was the least produced out of the series, with only 963 cars built in the year since its debut in 1964.
Used Cars (GT7)[]
'Cooper' is a British firm that revolutionized Formula One vehicle construction. The sportier MINI variants that they designed are real classics. Those bearing the 'S' designation boast a more high-powered engine. This model is an especially valuable 970 S. The front-mounted 970 cc straight-four can generate up to 65.1 BHP. Its limited production run means[1] that this is one of the most sought-after Cooper S models out there!

When it comes to speedy little packages, the first thing that comes to mind is this Mini. While the original British Minis may have been built as a compact people's car, they are performance machines. The first to notice the Mini's hidden talents was the car constructor Cooper—that's right, of F1 fame. They were the artists behind this sporty Mini Cooper S. Its great achievements in races and rallies are the stuff of legends. This model, with an improved engine displacement of 970 cc is an especially prized instalment of the series.
Stella[]
When the Mini was born in 1959, it revolutionized the world of small front-wheel drive cars. Designed by the English engineer Alec Issigonis... It sported a uniquely positioned engine and gearbox. This maximized the space-saving potential of its front-wheel drive layout. The result was a small and fast car with a roomy interior. The Mini's historic front-wheel drive layout is now widely referred to as an 'Issigonis' layout. And why shouldn't it be? It was designed by the brilliant engineer after all!
Kunihisa Ito[]
This is the original Mini. I can't think of any other car design that is so efficient. It's the ultimate expression of a 4-seat passenger vehicle. It truly has a 'timeless design'. The original Mini was, for its time, an unusual front-wheel-drive compact. it was developed for minimal power and maximum interior space. This packaging was revolutionary for the 20th century. The car was created in 1955 by the BMC development team, led by Sir Alec Issigonis. After that, John Cooper tuned the car with twin carburetors and disc brakes. Thus the Mini Cooper S you see here was born.

Trivia[]
- In the Livery Editor, the rear wing layer is used for the car's roof; the Volkswagen typ2(T1) SambaBus '62 also featured a similar behavior.
- In GT Sport, the car comes with a roll cage installed by default. The roll cage then became an installable GT Auto option in GT7.
