The Mitsubishi GTO, known internationally as the Mitsubishi 3000GT, is a grand touring/sports car produced by Mitsubishi between 1990 and 2000. Spanning three generations, it was produced as a three-door liftback coupe as well as a convertible. In North America, the 3000GT was also sold as the Dodge Stealth. The GTO was based on the Mitsubishi Diamante, retaining their transverse mounted 3-liter, 24-valve V6 engines and front-wheel-drive layout. It also included naturally aspirated or twin-turbocharged engines and had active aerodynamics.

Domestically, the GTO was named after the Galant GTO, which in turn was named after the Ferrari 250 GTO. To avoid legal difficulties regarding the GTO name, due to it being already used by Ferrari and Pontiac, the company used the 3000GT name in international markets.

Trivia[]

  • Despite none of the models of the GTO not appearing in Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, a scenery car (based on the second generation model) can be seen in Fuji International Speedway and High Speed Ring in said game in red, the scenery car also appears in GT5 and GT6 with yellow version of said prop introduced on specific tracks.
    • However, for tracks that first appeared or returned in GT5 or GT6 (if the track contains the scenery prop), its headlights were removed, and as well its taillights being smaller. This also happens to the other GT5P era scenery vehicles in the first colors that they came with.
