In-game description[]

This description is taken from the NTSC version of Gran Turismo 2:

The Legnum, which shares chassis components with the new Galant, came out in August 1996 as a station wagon in the passenger car registration category (Japanese classes M through L). The wheelbase is the same as the Galant, but the station wagon body is two inches longer and three inches taller. Heading the list of engines is the 2.5-liter DOHC V6 twin turbo, housed in the top-of-the-line VR-4 Type S. The rest of the engine lineup comprises a 2.5-liter SOHC V6, 2.0-liter SOHC V6, and, in the base line ST model, a 1.8-liter DOHC in-line 4-cylinder GDI (gasoline direct injection) engine. A minor change in 1998 boosted engine power slightly, with the biggest improvement achieved by the VR-4 Type S's 2.5-liter DOHC V6 twin turbo: maximum power was bumped up from 256 hp to 276 hp (at 5,500 rpm) and maximum torque from 254 lb-ft to 268 lb-ft (at 4,000 rpm). The ST is offered with front engine/front drive or all-wheel drive, whereas the VR-4 Type S, designed for maximum driving performance, is available only with all-wheel drive. The ST comes with a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. The VR-4 Type S is available only with 5-speed manual, but comes standard-equipped with AYC (automatic yaw control), ASC (active stability control), and TCL (traction control). The Super VR-4 comes with these features and other upgrades, such as aero parts.

Acquisition[]

GT2[]

This car can be bought at the Mitsubishi New Cars Dealership for 19,230 Credits.

Trivia[]

  • Unlike the two Galant VR-G models and the earlier Legnum ST '97 that are all FF with a 1.8-liter engine, this model is actually the Legnum 24 ST with a larger 2.4-liter engine and AWD. However, the car is incorrectly set to FF ingame, yet still has a carbon propeller shaft upgrade and a single LSD upgrade, like most other AWD cars.
