Cafe Description (GT7)[]
- This cafe description is specifically about the Lancer Evolution models.
Back in the medieval days of ancient Europe, knights competed on horseback to see who could reach their lord the fastest in a type of "proto-rally race." Flash forward to recent times, and, in a way, you'll find the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution carried on that tradition. A brand with deep roots in racing, Mitsubishi participated in international rallies beginning in the 1960s. From 1983, its 4WD Pajero scored numerous victories at the Dakar Rally, considered the world's thoughest off-road race. And the Colt and Galant both experienced much success at the World Rally Championship, which began in 1973. This turbocharged 4WD Lancer Evolution made its debut in 1993,[1] at the height of the company's racing prowess. At the time, the top category in the WRC consisted of Group A cars, or largely unmodified production cars.
Based on the Lancer mid-size sedan, the "Evo" was created as a competition machine from get-go. In addition to its numerous victories at the WRC, this Evo enjoyed an intense rivalry with with the Subaru Impreza, another Japanese rally powerhouse. This 1995 Lancer Evolution III is the third-generation model. It was the car that handed ace rally driver Tommi Mäkinen his first world rally drivers title. The same year Mitsubishi introduced the true second-generation Lancer Evolution.[2] Joining the Lancer Evolution VI lineup was a special version called the Tommi Makinen Edition. As Mitsubishi's ace pilot, Mäkinen was the first driver in WRC history to win four censecutive drivers titles. Therefore, the commemorative model that bears his name is undeniably special.
By the time the Evo X was on sale in 2007, Mitsubishi had withdrawn from the WRC. Therefore, the "X" was the last Evo to be offered. And due to[3] its amazing performance it will be remembered. A Japanese WRC legend, the Lancer Evolution is a name etched in the annals of world automobile history.

Trivia[]
- In GT5 and GT6, a Mitsubishi Lancer wagon can be spotted as a trackside prop in some tracks in those games, however this car has yet to playable in any the games.
- However in the Toscana track, this scenery car is replaced by a Subaru Liberty scenery car, perhaps this is the only scenery car to have this type of change in GT5 and GT6, however the said trackside prop is only seen on that track and still is in GT6.
