The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII Rally Car '01 is a rally car based on the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII. It only appears in Gran Turismo Concept, replacing its pre-finalized version that previously appeared in Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec.

The car appears to be the #7, driven by Tommi Mäkinen during the 2001 WRC season. First introduced at that year's Rallye Sanremo, the Lancer WRC (as officially referred by Mitsubishi and WRC standings) was largely unsuccessful, with only a 6th place finish at the Rally Australia as the best result. Mäkinen would later finish 3rd overall in the Driver's Championship thanks to earlier successes with the Lancer Evolution 6.5.

Trivia[]

  • Pre-release material relating to GT4 suggested that the car would return to the game; however, it did not make an appearance in that game, although it can be found as a hidden car in the Japanese version of Gran Turismo 4 Prologue, as that version still uses GT3/Concept car model format.
  • The in-game name is a misnomer; the Lancer WRC was officially based on the base eighth generation (overall) Cedia Lancer and was never branded as an Lancer Evolution officially. The Cedia generation/platform does serve as the base for the Evolution VII, however.
