Description[]

This description is taken from the NTSC version of Gran Turismo 2:

The Lancer Evolution IV was a tough act to follow. Tommi[1] Makinen drove it to the WRC driver's championship for two consecutive years, and it made a dazzling showing in other WRC events as well. It was truly an evolution over previous models, with improved specifications, a new body, and a 276 BHP engine that pushed the regulatory envelope. But Mitsubishi didn't rest on its laurels, and to keep at the top of the WRC lists it introduced the Lancer Evolution V in January, 1998, only a year and a half after the release of the Evolution IV. The Evolution V represents a leap beyond its predecessor, with revised suspension, larger tires, and a wider track for improved handling. The disc brakes are truly gigantic - 17-inch rotors with 4-piston calipers in front and 16-inch rotors with twin-piston calipers in the rear. The all-wheel drive system has been revised, with a helical limited-slip differential in front. Although the Evolution V's engine has the same horsepower output at 276 as the Evolution IV, changes to the turbo system boost maximum torque to 275 lb-ft. Exterior changes include an aluminum hood, wider fenders, new aerodynamic parts, and, in the rear, an adjustable rear deck spoiler with 4 angle-of-attack settings for the wing. The Evolution V is a limited-edition model. Only 6,000 were sold. It delivers three-liter performance in a very refined way. But as good as it is, remember that Lancer evolution is not yet finished.
