In-game description[]

This description is taken from the PAL version of Gran Turismo 2:

This Pajero Mini made its debut in December 1994 as the 'baby' of the Pajero series models. Although the Mini just looks like a scaled down replica of the Pajero, which has become synonymous with Japanese 4WD cars, it came about independently, and the employment of such features as a built-in frame-type monocoque body gives it a construction which is mostly intended for on-road use. The engine mounted in that body came in two types; an in-line 4-cylinder SOHC and DOHC turbo, both being mounted vertically. The basic drivetrain fitted was the Easy Select 4WD, but FR was also provided for the SOHC-type engine, this in response to city commuter demand. The forgiving spec. allowed the car to be enjoyed across a wide range of uses, from town driving to off-road use. The engine mounted in the highest grade Pajero Mini model, the VR-II,[1] was the DOHC-type turbo, giving a maximum power output of 64 ps/7,000 rpm and maximum torque of 9.9 kgm/3,000 rpm, and two types of transmission could be combined with this engine: a 5-speed manual and 4-speed auto box. In the area of suspension, MacPherson struts were employed on the front, and 5-link type at the rear. The brake combination was ventilated disks on the front wheels and leading/trailing type on the rear. Because the Mini was modelled on the Pajero which has highly refined styling, it has successfully inherited the essence of the Pajero. Moreover, the lively turbo engine provides a high quality ride in keeping with its appearance.
