Moon Over the Castle is the main theme of the Gran Turismo series. The theme is written and composed by Masahiro Andoh of T-Square. It originally started out as the first track of Andoh's solo album Andy's (The basis of Gran Turismo Original Game Soundtrack) in 1996 and become the basis of T-Square's Knight Song, using this music as a sample in 1997. Later it became the opening theme for the NTSC-J version of the original Gran Turismo

It later appeared in Gran Turismo 2, with slight revisions and additional notes, but its usage is still limited to being the intro theme to the NTSC-J version of the game.

Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec features the first remix of Moon Over the Castle, named the A-Spec Mix, while Gran Turismo 4 features an Orchestra Version of the tune which is essentially the same as the one found in the original Gran Turismo but with a choir and lyrics sang in a classical music fashion. Gran Turismo 4's version is notable in that it is used in all versions of the intro, though in the NTSC version, the theme later transitions to "Panama" by Van Halen, while the PAL version has the Jack Knife Lee remix of "Reason is Treason" by Kasabian (which is also one of the songs played in-game). The NTSC-J version continues with the rock arrangement like it would in the original Gran Turismo, indicating that the "orchestra" in this version simply serves as a prelude.

Gran Turismo 4 also features another remix of Moon Over the Castle, both long and short, composed by the band Synthetic.

The theme gets a more modern remix in Gran Turismo 5 Prologue and Gran Turismo 5, the latter of which also features fellow T-Square member Keizoh Kawano, both of which are also featured in Gran Turismo 6.

Another arrangement of Moon Over the Castle debuted in Gran Turismo Sport in it's Spec II update/repackaging, with another arrangement debuting at the 2020 FIA-Certified Gran Turismo Championships World Finals weekend. The latter was also used in the release date trailer for Gran Turismo 7, with yet another arrangement used for that game's opening movie in all regions of the game (for the first time in series' history).

For GT7, Bring Me The Horizon also produced a cover version of the song that is featured in the game's official soundtrack called Find Your Line: Official Music from Gran Turismo 7.
