Description[]

In the 30-odd years since they set up shop in the Japanese city of Suzuka—home of the gruelling 8-hour endurance race that takes the city's name—Moriwaki Engineering has always been heavily involved in racing. Moriwaki's engineers incorporate the know-how they glean in racing into the high-performance components they build and sell.

Moriwaki has also competed in races with 600cc class supersport machines, a category whose popularity exceeded that of two-stroke machines—to the point where supersport bikes now have their own world championship. As budding speed demons began discovering 600cc motorcycles, Honda released a racing-spec version of its CBR600RR with all street-safety-required components removed to keep the price low.

Moriwaki then began selling completely race-ready machines built on top of this stripped-down 600RR. The concept was to make a ready-to-race machine at a more-affordable price than if all the parts were bought separately—as an incentive that would attract less well-financed teams to Moriwaki bikes.

Moriwaki also made a street-legal version of the bike—this machine, the CBR600RR-Moriwaki. The company built only 100 of these bikes, which, like the CBR1000RR-Moriwaki, were hopped up with the MD211VF kit as a way to advertise the kit to racing teams.

The 600RR has the same four-into-two-into-one-into-two exhaust system as the 1000RR, with one silencer under the seat and the other on the right side. This alone boosts power by ten percent. The rearsets are adjustable to a height between 10 and 25 mm (0.4 to 1.0 inches) higher tha the stock footpegs, and can also be moved forward or back up to 10 mm—a practical touch designed to accommodate the full range of riding situations, from circuit to street.

Painted in the Moriwaki colours, the fairing kit is also available with a set of sponsor logo stickers to make the rider feel like he's riding for Team Moriwaki.
