The bike finished 15th (7th in the JSB class) in the 2005 Suzuka 8 Hours with Japan's Naoki Matsudo and England's Leon Camier, completing a total distance of 190 laps. Matsudo is the represented rider in-game.
Description[]
For years now, Moriwaki Engineering has been thrilling racing fans at the Suzuka 8-hour Endurance Race. After skipping the 2004 competition, they returned in 2005 with the CBR1000RR, a bike that Honda Motorsports and privateers raced at Suzuka the year before but which Moriwaki was using for the first time.
Moriwaki's first competition in the 2005 season was the Japan Superbike (JSB) championship. Riding their 1000RR was Naoki Matsudo, who had just returned to Japan from the world Grand Prix championship. The 1000RR he rode at Suzuka was the same 1000RR that Moriwaki tricked out for the JSB.
Compared to previous machines that Moriwaki modified in its own unique ways, this bike can't boast of many unusual modifications. The Showa suspension kits in the front and rear, Nissin radially mounted front calipers, and Marchesini rims were also used by other teams' bikes.
In the name of fairness and to keep participant expenses from skyrocketing, JSB rules permit a narrower range of modifications than the World Superbike Championship. For instance, piston and crankshaft changes are not permitted. But because JSB machines are relatively close to the original production bikes, fans with the money can realistically look forward to buying almost exactly the same bike the near future.
Despite starting development of the bike only six months before the Suzuka competition, Moriwaki increased the potential of its CBR1000RR[1] considerably. As the All-Japan Championship progressed, the Moriwaki team moved steadily up the ranking. In the Suzuka 300km event - the last one before the final 8-hour endurance battle - Moriwaki and rider Matsudo came in 3rd overall and 1st in the JSB class. Matsudo came in 9th in the Suzuka time qualifier and 10th in the special stage but managed to shorten the team's time to 2 minutes 10.181 seconds. In the main event, Matsudo took a spill in the rain and came in 15th overall, but he and his CBR1000RR[1] still showed Moriwaki's prowess to the world.
