In-game description[]
This description is taken from the NTSC version of Gran Turismo 2:
The result of a full model change in November 1996, the fifth-generation Prelude broke away from the specialty car category with improved sportiness. This car inherited its predecessor's power unit options (the Model F22B and Model H22A 2.2-liter DOHC in-line 4-cylinder engines) but also adds two VTEC tuning options for the 3 models. The baseline Si houses the F22B and delivers 158 BHP and 148 lb-ft of torque. The sporty SiR is loaded with the Model H22A VTEC engine to generate 197 BHP and 162 lb-ft. Finally, the newly-added Type-S, based on the SiR but with an even more refined ride and increased power, features a higher-output version of the H22A and generates 217 BHP and 163 lb-ft. Mugen added its parts to this Prelude to create the Mugen Prelude Type-S. This car is set apart from the subdued-looking standard model by sporty aero parts to create a much different feeling. These include a front bumper air dam, simply-designed side skirts, low aero spoilers, and a rear undertray that enhance the car's stability. Mugen also added its 5-spoke aluminum wheels. Like other Mugen models, this car also has a truly wide range of functional optional parts from which drivers can choose to create a truly high-performance machine.
