In-game description[]

"The refined Z33 with the new generation VQ35HR engine."

The legendary Nissan sports car "Fairlady Z" disappeared from the catalog lineup in the summer of 2000. But Nissan President Carlos Ghosn recognized very well the importance of this car's presence, and had secretly given the go sign for the next generation model. In July of 2002, the new Z33 model Fairlady Z made its debut.

It shared its base frame and the 3.5L VQ35DE engine with the V35 Skyline, but it was the first time this engine was given specs of 276 HP, 267.6 ft-lb and combined with a 6-speed MT.

"Ever evolving" - true to these words from the head of development, the Z continued to be improved upon every year. One major advancement was the minor change in January 2007, when the engine was changed to the new generation VQ35HR, improving power output to 309 HP. The intake manifold was completely redesigned, and the friction within the engine was reduced. Bu further improving the crankshaft section, the rev feel of the engine was greatly improved, and a very powerful but sensitive sports car feel was established. The exhaust note is very deep and low, making it sound more like a large displacement V8 engine, and the engine hood is given a power bulge in the center as if o show off this change.

Suspension settings were also greatly modified, improving absorption of input from the road surface and always maintaining the body in a flat orientation. Due to this change, the handing of the car has become very natural.

Brand Central (GT7)[]

This fifth generation Nissan Fairlady Z was known as the Z33 in Japan, and the 350Z elsewhere. The Fairlady—or 'Z-car'—line vanished from the market between the late 90s and early 2000s... But was revived with the 350Z! This specific model is from 2007, and features massive improvements to its naturally aspirated V6 engine. In fact, this little beauty is capable of more than 295.9 BHP, thanks to the increase in torque!

Used Cars (GT7)[]

The Nissan 350Z—or 'Fairlady Z (Z33)', as it's known in Japan—seems almost made for circuit racing. This may be owing to its large naturally-aspirated engine and rear-wheel drive system. Models from 2007 on featured a re-engineered V6. This resulted in increased power and a higher rev range. It was the first naturally-aspirated V6 produced by Nissan capable of generating over 295.9 BHP.

Ever wanted to play around with a big naturally-aspirated engine on a manual gearbox? Well, you can with the Z33—which is one of its main selling points. This late model from 2007 is equipped with a VQ35HR engine, which boasts a higher redline than the standard model. The way it vastly improves upon a sensation so unique to naturally-aspirated engines is truly astounding. These cars are reasonably priced when bought used. In any case, it's a really great car.

Shiro Nakamura[]

Debuting in 2001, the Z33 was tasked with resurrecting the Z-car line and serving as a symbol of Nissan's revival. Therefore, it was a car that had to succeed. With the Z-car being the face of Nissan, the Z33 had to express the design heritage of the company... Without coming off as too 'retro'. Therefore, we needed to retain the essence and spirit of our past achievements... While expressing a thoroughly modern character. The car's design language has its roots in the S30 and the first-generation Silvia CSP. And, though it may be difficult to notice, there are hints of the Fairlady SP in its body section. All of this contributed to the Z33 being more modern than the S30 in terms of proportion and theme. Regardless, it is instantly recognisable as a Z-car from any angle.
