The Nissan GRAN TURISMO SKYLINE GT-R '01 is a tuned car produced by Nissan. It appeared in Gran Turismo Concept, Gran Turismo 4, Gran Turismo PSP, Gran Turismo 5, and Gran Turismo 6. It also has a pace car variant.
In-game description[]
"Developed in cooperation with Nismo; a demo car personifying the philosophy of Gran Turismo."
Gran Turismo had an exhibition booth at the Japan Grand Touring Car Championship (JGTC) for some time now, and when we decided that we wanted to display a car that most reflected our vision and philosophy behind the Gran Turismo dream, Nismo stepped up to offer us a helping hand. The result: The Nissan Gran Turismo Skyline GT-R. It was created using an R34 Skyline GT-R that Nismo had tucked away, to be used solely for research and development purposes.
Starting out life as a perfectly street legal GT-R, we customized it with numerous parts from Nismo's S-Tune menu. A remapped engine control unit and re-tuned intake and exhaust systems were among the S-Tune extras for the engine, while the exterior benefits from the new Nismo aerodynamic bits including a new front bumper, side skirts, a GT diffuser, and a new air induction slit on the hood (not to mention the terrific Gran Turismo paint scheme and "GT" logos).
We're proud of our creation, it's been included in every version of the game since the "Gran Turismo Concept" release, and in addition to being offered as a prize car, another version with flashing lights on its roof appears as a pace car. At one point, there was even a scale model of our Nissan Gran Turismo Skyline GT-R offered for sale.
