In-game description[]
"The return of the GT-R; this concept car was the centre of attention at the Tokyo Motor Show."
At precisely 1:00 pm on October 24th, 2001, Carlos Ghosn shocked everyone in attendance when he unveiled a new concept car at the 35th Tokyo Motor Show without any prior notice. The car was the Nissan GT-R Concept, the potential successor to the R34 Skyline GT-R, that would ultimately be produced for the world market. Ghosn eloquently spoke of how Nissan had not abandoned the GT-R, promising its return in the near future. The media swarmed around him at the first opportunity, asking him question about the engine size, power, and price. His answer was, "No comment."
The fact this concept eventually led to the production of the R35 GT-R needs to be mentioned. In retrospect, it's clear that the concept car was showcased to provide a peek into the design direction of the GT-R. It also offered subtle hints about the car's mechanics. For instance, the shape suggested a front mid-engine layout with either all wheel drive or rear-wheel drive. Its roofline revealed that it would be a 2+2 and not a pure 2-seater. A large grille suggested a very powerful engine, and the large wheels and tires were indicators that the car would possess excellent handling. There was no doubt when seeing the GT-R Concept that it would eventually lead to a very fast and special production car.
