The Nissan GT-R N24 GT Academy '12 is a race car produced by Nissan. It appears in Gran Turismo 5 (as a paid DLC car) and Gran Turismo 6.

The car appears to be the #123, driven by Polyphony Digital founder and CEO Kazunori Yamauchi, Lucas Ordóñez, Tobias Schulze, and Yasukichi Yamamoto, who participated in the SP8T class of the 2012 24 Hours of Nürburgring. The car finished the race in 30th place overall, achieving the 1st place in its class.

In-game description[]

"The car of Team GT Academy; it secured a class victory at the Nürburgring 24-hour race."

In 2012, the Gran Turismo series producer Kazunori Yamauchi took on the Nürburgring 24-hour race for the third time, together with the newly formed Team GT Academy. This Nissan GT-R is the car that was prepared for this race.

The actual Nissan GT-R development team, headed by Mr. Kazutoshi Mizuno was responsible for the car's development. Based on the commercial Club Track Edition modifications were deliberately kept to a minimum so that its performance would rely solely on the potential of the commercial GT-R. As soon as the car was put together, Kazunori gathered Gran Turismo software engineers to work as race engineers for the car. They took a month to finish setting up the car at the Nürburgring.

Kazunori had also raced the Nürburgring in the GT-R in 2011, but this 2012 car was very different from the previous year's machine. The car produced more power, but the wings were of standard size, and there was no drastic reduction of weight. This made the car slower in cornering speed, but faster at the top end.

In the race final held between May 19th and 20th the first GT Academy winner, Lucas Ordóñez, joined forces with Tobias Schulze and Yasukichi Yamamoto who raced with Kazunori last year. Team GT Academy succeeded in bringing out the best in the 2012 car, and completed the 24-hour race with minimal problems. Taking the SP8T class win two years in a row, they also finished the race in 30th place overall, improving upon their result from the previous year.
