In-game description[]

"This particular GT-R was fined-tuned by Nissan's motorsports division, NISMO to shine on the race track. For starters, it uses the same turbochargers as the GT-R GT3 race car. This allows the V-6 engine to produce an incredible 591.7 HP and 477.4 ft-lb of torque. The 2017 model featured enhanced rigidity and a competition-tuned suspension. It set an amazing lap time of 7 minutes and 8.679 seconds at the Nürburgring. This actually set a record for a production vehicle at the time![1]"
―In-game description of the car, from GT7's Brand Central

The GT-R NISMO debuted in 2014 as the highest performance grade model of the R35 GT-R. Since then it had remained popular with no major modifications until the summer of 2016, where the 2017 model GT-R NISMO with various improvements was finally introduced.

The characteristic GT-R NISMO bonded body using structural adhesives for improving the rigidity of the car, the utilization of GT3 turbines, and the tuned engine producing 591 BHP / 66.5 kgfm remained pretty much the same. But in the 2017 model the front window frame of the body was reinforced for further improvements in rigidity, and suspension settings were revised down to the Damp Tronic ECU, improving urban comfort to driving on the edge while cornering on a circuit.

Another important change was the aerodynamics. The front under spoiler and bumper with canard shaped fins on both sides, the rear spoiler and bumper was designed by an aerodynamics engineer who works on the Super GT race car for the road. By doing so, the downforce at 300 km/h is 100 kg stronger than the standard GT-R.

Trivia[]

  • Plans for the car's inclusion in GT Sport appears to have been teased as early as December 2017 from a Japanese Nissan email newsletter, which mentions a special edition of the game that would have included a free voucher code for the car, as well as a special PlayStation 4 theme.[2] The aforementioned special edition of the game or theme was never released, however.
  • Unlike the 2014MY variant, this 2017MY is treated as a road car. This means the car is not barred from entering road car only events unlike its predecessor.
  • Its paddle shifters do not move when shifting.
