The FIA GT3 category has taken the leading role of touring car racing today, with many of the most famous sportscars in the world matched to its regulations, and a wide variety of manufacturers entering the contest. The GT3 machine entered into this popular category by Nissan from 2012 was the GT-R Nismo GT3.
The GT-R has shown overwhelming performance in the world of roadgoing production cars, but in acquiring the homologation for the GT3, several modifications have been made. On the exterior, the front and rear fenders are widened to allow wider tyres. The trans-axle four-wheel drive has been sealed away to make it a rear-wheel drive. Modifications relating to power only involve changes to the ECU and exhaust, but the transmission has also been changed to a 6-speed sequential with a paddle shifter.
With feedback from its performance in its debut year, the 2013 model has been evolved even further. Optimisation of the cam timing to improve engine output, reinforcement of moving parts, optimisation of brake distribution, addition of front canards, and optimisation of the rear wing position. You can feel the determination of the developer to increase the performance of this car by whatever means possible.
And the people who made the potential of this racing machine well known were the GT Academy athletes. In 2013, they participated in the FIA-GT and Blancpain Endurance series, and became a familiar face on the podium. In the Blancpain Endurance series, Lucas Ordóñez achieved 65 points in total to became the series champion of the Pro-Am class.
