In-game description[]

"Made in the image of a tin toy car, the Pao remains a much sought after collector car to this day."
Nissan's first "Pike Car," the Be-1, was so popular that the company set out to build another. That effort turned out to be the PAO. "Pike," in Nissan terminology meant "sharp." After being unveiled at the 1987 Tokyo Motor Show, the PAO went on sale in 1989. Its production run was limited - just like the Be-1 - however, Nissan chose to employ a different tact with the PAO. Rather than limiting its total production run to 10,000 units (as was the case with the Be-1), Nissan decided to build as many as were ordered in the first three months.

Like the Be-1, the PAO was mechanically based on the 3-door March, employing its chassis, engine and gearbox. But this time, Nissan added power steering for better cornering. But performance wasn't the name of the PAO's game, as Nissan concentrated on making the car as stylish as possible. It wore a distinctive yet "cute" body, highlighted by triangular windows and exterior door hinges. The rear was a hatch/tailgate design, unique to a small car in those days, and it came splashed in a variety of new colors, including aqua gray, olive gray, ivory and terracotta. The PAO was guilty of being all show and little go just like the Be-1, but the public embraced this little retro runabout so much that Nissan sold 31,321 of them.
