In-game description[]
"A masterpiece from Japanese cars of the 60s, with an advanced monocoque body combined with a tough engine."
Maintenance-free cars are the norm nowadays, but in the 60's it was the opposite. In Japan, the car that rose to meet the challenge of maintenance-free driving was Nissan's Skyline 1500 Deluxe, released in November 1963. The most revolutionary part of the car was the sealed engine. "Requiring no disassembly or repairs for 2 years or 25,000 miles", it was a drastic shift to new technology made possible due to the new 69 BHP "G" motor. Even the suspension, which needed to be greased up almost every month in normal cars of the era, could be left alone for an entire year.
The exterior was of a simple 3-box design, with straight lines and no-nonsense lighting. The interior was roomy and bright, with large glass windows and instruments that were easy to see. It was well received by consumers. The mechanisms utilised were extremely simple, befitting its concept. It did not have a complex suspension system as in past Skylines and Gloria models, but even without a high level of potential, it ended up being a very natural-feeling suspension with brisk response.
To maximise utility, a 4-speed floor gear lever was offered in 1965, in addition to the previous 3-speed full-synchro gearbox. This was actually a racing replica that used technology from the Japan GP of the previous year, and from this model forward, the Skyline name became synonymous with motorsports. The Skyline 1500 was finally given an SOHC 87 BHP high-output engine in 1966, honouring the last of the glorious Prince Automobiles.
