In-game description[]
- "The S15 Silvia has got to be one of the best-known Japanese rear-wheel drive sports cars. This model is the Spec-R Aero, which features an SR20 straight-four turbo engine. It's very reasonably sized, and weighs in at a lightweight 1,200 kg. Anyone who loves to drift will be taken with its massive turbo power!"
- ―In-game description of the car, from GT7's Brand Central
- "The Nissan Silvia is known for its front-engine, rear-wheel drive layout, and its powerful turbocharger. The S15 spec-R Silvia is more compact than the S14, and boasts a strengthened chassis. Like other Nissan sports cars, it is fitted with an SR20 four-cylinder turbo engine capable of 246.5 BHP. This Silvia really is the quintessential FR sports car of its class."
- ―In-game description of the car, from GT7's Used Car Dealership
Alongside the Z and the GT-R, the Silvia (240SX) represented one of Nissan's most prominent sports cars. The seventh-generation Silvia (S15) was introduced in January 1999 with a smaller body than its predecessor and a focused sport-car-minded disposition.
Under the S15's hood was the SR20 engine, which also powered the S13 and S14, but tuned for enhanced performance. The naturally aspirated version produced 162.7 HP and 141.8 ft-lb of torque, while the turbocharged inline-4 pumped out 246.5 HP and 202.5 ft-lb. The S15 came in two trim levels: the Spec S and the Spec R, which also came with a manual 6-speed gearbox.
While sharing the same basic chassis of the S13 and S14, the new Silvia boasted a stiffer body structure, better braking performance and upgraded suspension system. It also featured a helical LSD that made it a much better handler then the S14.
The Spec R was the choice for enthusiasts, thanks partly to a weight-to-power ratio of 5.03 kg/HP. In 2000, a convertible model, the Varietta, was introduced with a naturally aspirated engine, but the entire line was discontinued just two years later, marking the end to this legendary model after 38 years.
Café Conversations (GT7)[]
Chris[]
With a body as compact as the S13 two generations before it, This car has a design that combines superb styling with impeccable balance. And being turbocharged, it produces a respectable 246.5 BHP. It actually competed in Japan's GT Championships too. It's also a great base car for drifting customizations, meaning you get a lot of fun for your dollar.
Ed Welburn[]
The Nissan Silvia Spec-R is a small coupé with great proportions. It offers drivers a great opportunity to express their creativity. Indeed, it's perfect for customization! I'd start with large wheels and flared fenders. Then I'd paint it black, with a splash of colour... But maybe you should go with your own creative impulses!
