The Nissan YellowHat YMS TOMICA GT-R '08 is a race car produced by Nissan. It appears in Gran Turismo 5 and Gran Turismo 6.

The car appears to be the #3, driven by Ronnie Quintarelli and Naoki Yokomizo, who achieved a 12th place finish in the GT500 Driver's Championship and a 13th place finish in the GT500 Team's Championship in the 2008 Super GT season.

In-game description[]

"Inheriting the speed of the Z; the yellow GT-R led by the great leader, Masahiro Hasemi."

For the 2008 Super GT series, the Nissan teams made the decision to change from the Fairlady Z to the new GT-R. Hasemi Motor Sport, led by veteran Masahiro Hasemi was one of these teams, and they entered the new season with their YellowYat sponsor colors again in this year.

Their drivers were Ronnie Quintarelli transferring in from a Toyota team, and Naoki Yokomizo who was returning to the team after 2 years, after having driven a GT300 class Fairlady Z in the previous year.

The GT-Rs entered the 2008 season as a specially approved vehicle, since it was built to 2009 race specifications. The VK45DE model, normally aspirated 4.5-liter V8 engine was carried over as-is from the Fairlady Z of the previous year, and produced over 493 HP and 376.1 ft-lb torque. Though nothing about the engine had changed, the ride height of the GT-R was much lower than other GT500 machines, and because the width could be designed to be wider, it has much better downforce. The wheelbase was also 5.1 inches longer in comparison with the previous Z, making it understeer somewhat but in turn improving stability. In this 2008 season, the GT-Rs proved themselves from the opening round, winning 7 races out of 9 in the season. The YellowYat YMS Tomica GT-R won the race in the 7th round at Motegi.

Though the cars proved themselves in the season, many of the races became a battle among GT-Rs, and overall the wins were shared between multiple GT-R teams. Therefore the series championship based on team points actually ended up being won by a Lexus[1] team, not Nissan.
