In-game description[]
"The introductory race machine born from the concept car of the 3rd generation March."
The Nissan March is one of Japan's leading compact cars, but despite its appearance as a "cute" little town car, the March also doubles as an entry-level racer. Since the 1st generation model was introduced in 1984, the March has been raced in a one-make series called the "March Cup", and of course the race has also been introduced for the 3rd generation model as well from the year following its release.
When the 3rd generation March was still in its concept phase, "Gran Turismo" came up with its own racing version of the March based on the prototype mm frame.
But the mm-R is not a direct copy of a March Cup machine. The Cup car engines are almost unmodified, whereas this mm-R is powered by a 1.2L engine that is highly tuned to produce 138 HP. It is of course equipped with a roll-cage, but the interior around the dashboard and rear seats have been retained, in conformance with Cup car specs.
The suspension utilizes struts in the front and a torsion beam in the rear. Of course it is equipped with stronger springs and dampers, and ride height has been lowered. Brakes have also been upgraded to ventilated discs. The transmission is the stock 5-speed manual.
Other upgrades include a sports exhaust, reinforced clutch, limited-slip differential, and aluminum wheels. The March is a very good base car where tuning is designed to bring out its best qualities.
